- Importance of submission defence and escapes in both sport and self-defence.
- Mental approach: Staying composed under pressure.
- Overview of the escape framework: Position, Prevention, Escape
2. Fundamental Submission Escape Principles (35 mins)
- Early escape vs. late escape strategies.
- Body mechanics & frames – how to use leverage instead of strength.
- Breaking grips & maintaining mobility to avoid getting stuck.
- Specific drills to enhance reaction speed and confidence.
3. Choke Escapes (35 mins)
- Surviving and escaping the most common chokes in the Gi:
- Collar chokes (Cross collar, Loop, Bow & Arrow, Baseball Bat) – How to break grips and use proper body positioning.
